Ron Elliot, a distinguished member of Local 600 as a Director of Photography, hails from New York recently relocated to the metro Atlanta area.
Ron draws inspiration from both West Indian and Southern influences. Initially embarking on a path in engineering, Ron discovered his true passion for the world of entertainment.
In the ’90s, he made a pivotal shift from engineering to filmmaking, commencing his journey at Def Jam Records. Under the mentorship of Hype Williams, Ron honed his craft before further refining his skills at DuArt Film & Video. As a Supervising Producer at MTV’s Tempo Network, he orchestrated the production of television shows and live concerts, collaborating with influential figures such as Russell Simmons and Spike Lee.
Ron’s adept editing abilities propelled him to prominent networks like A&E and VH1, where he left an indelible mark. Renowned for seamlessly blending entertainment with education, his films, shaped by his experiences as a US Air Force Gulf War Veteran, have earned acclaim at esteemed film festivals. Notably, his work clinched the Best Feature Film award at the Newark International Film Festival and garnered recognition at Cannes.
In a recent triumph, Ron clinched the 2023 Best Picture and Prestige awards for his film “Dope King.” Serving as the Director of Photography for Allblk TV’s series “Judge Me Not” and “Family Portrait,” he showcased his unparalleled creativity and technical prowess. Additionally, Ron directed a compelling campaign for Walden University, further solidifying his reputation as a filmmaker with a unique blend of artistic vision and technical expertise.
